Privacy Policy

The short version

WindLimit does not require an account and does not collect personal information. Your settings stay on your device. Two features involve sending limited data off your device: fetching weather, which goes to a U.S. government service, and the ads in the free version, which are served by Google. Both are described below.

Data stored on your device

Your preferences (home airport, aircraft, limits, theme) are saved locally on your device and never transmitted to us.

Location

If you use "Fetch Nearest METAR" or "Nearby Airports", WindLimit asks for your device's approximate location so it can find nearby airports with live weather reporting. The app requests low-accuracy location only, and it converts that into a rounded box roughly 60 nautical miles across before sending it to aviationweather.gov to ask which reporting stations fall inside it. That box is deliberately coarse and is not a record of where you are. Your location is never sent to Personal Wings, and we do not store it. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your device's settings without losing any other app functionality.

Weather data

When you select an airport, the app requests its current METAR, and its TAF if you ask for one, from aviationweather.gov (a U.S. government service). Only the airport identifier is sent. The nearby-airport search described above instead sends the rounded location box. No account or personal information is included in any of these requests.

Advertising

The free version of WindLimit shows banner ads served by Google AdMob. To do that, Google collects a device identifier, advertising and app-interaction data, diagnostic data such as crash and performance logs, and an approximate location estimated from your IP address. This is described in the Google Privacy Policy. Purchasing the ad-free upgrade removes all advertising and its associated data collection.

Tracking

WindLimit does not ask for permission to track you, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. Nothing the app or its advertising collects is linked to your identity, because the app has no accounts.

Purchases

The ad-free upgrade is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information.

Not for operational use

WindLimit is an informational tool. It is not a substitute for official weather sources, aircraft documentation, or your operator's procedures.
